Mcgregor Junction Hwy 340 and US 52 Hwy 340 YTK Head south at the Junction of US 18 and Hwy 340 in Mcgregor. There is a scenic overlook of the Mississippi River about 2 miles south of town--quite spectacular!
Junction Hwy 340 and US 52 Dubuque US 52 YTK The stretch from Luxemboug to Dubuque sits on a high ridge and is very scenic.
Dubuque Sabula US 52 YTK It's easy to miss the turn off for US 52 to Sabula on the south side of Dubuque. US 52 is mostly rural and lightly traveled. Some good sections, some boring sections. Can be interesting to watch barges traverse the "lock & dam" in Bellevue.
Guttenberg Edgwood C7X Toby Buck C7X is about 1/2 mile south of the "main drag" of Guttenberg. Ride C7x all the way to the second "t" intersection (about 1 mile from Edgwood). It has some nice 35 mph twisties. There are many good roads in the area but this is possibly the best.
Millville Sageville US 52 & County C9Y Rollin Beard Start (or end) at Millville - US Hwy. 52 and county C9Y End (or start) at Sageville - county C9Y and US Hwy. 52 Just stay on C9Y C9Y is part of the Great River Road. From Sherrill to Sageville the surface is a little rough, But from Balltown to Sherrill almost new paving. Lots of fun sweepers. Balltown is the home of Iowa's oldest continuously operating bar, with great food too - and a fantastic view over the Mississippi River Valley from the edge of town or the park.
Lansing Lansing X52 Rollin Beard Ride X52 south from Lansing to Harpers Ferry. Turn right on X42 and go back to Lansing. After the ride stop at Sweeney's On The River for food and drink and watch the barges try to make the sharpest turn on the river. IA Hwy. 26 from Lansing to New Albin ain't bad either.....
Just south of New Albin at the junction of IA 26 and county A26. IA 76 and county A26. A26 Rollin Beard Ride county A26. Follows the Upper Iowa River, fun sweepers with a couple tighter corners to keep you honest. While you are at it, check out IA 76 for 5 miles each direction. For the best jerky ever made, check out the City Meat Market in New Albin - beef, chicken, turkey, it's all great.
Luana IA 76 and X16 just south of Waukon X16 Rollin Beard Ride X16, but make sure you take W4B over to IA 51 and back while you're at it. All new blacktop in late fall 2002.
New Albin Spring Grove, MN CR 2 (in Iowa it’s called A11), Hwy. 76. CR 27 Dave Norman If you have a sport bike you’ll want to search out this road. Go to the extreme north east corner of Iowa and just south of New Albin, IA you will find county road A 11 heading west. It will meander back and forth across the Iowa/Minnesota border before reaching Eitzen, MN. There you can head north on Hwy 76 one mile before turning west onto CR 27 (Click to see map)
