1. Start in Billings Montana. For the pretty route head west on I-90 to Columbus MT. Should take about 45 minutes at 80 miles per hour. Travel through Columbus following the signs that point you to Absarokee MT. This road follows a very pretty valley. Mostly sweepers although I hesitate to call blind corners high speed. Takes about 30 minutes to get to Absarokee. Drive through town staying on the main drag and follow the left fork that is labeled "Rosco and Red Lodge" The road get way more entertaining here. Plenty of places to scare yourself and road conditions are variable due to extreme weather. It's about an hour to Red Lodge and I suggest you stop in Rosco for lunch at the Grizzly Bar. It's a really cool place. Once you reach Red Lodge turn south on US 212. (You can't miss it, it's the main drag through town). Your about to head up Beartooth Pass. Hope you brought your winter gloves and a change of underwear. This road has been compared to Deal's Gap. Hope that helps you to know what to expect. Lots of Hairpin corners and twisties. You will eventually come down the other side in Cooke City. Accommodations are really expensive here but if you don't mind Tourist prices give it a whirl. From here you can take a ride through Yellowstone Park. Road conditions SUCK. I suggest you head towards Mammoth and leave the park at Gardener. This will spit you back towards I-90 at Livingston. Head East on I-90 back to Billings. Total trip distance will be 400-500 miles. Let me know if you want more detailed information.
