| Tierra Amarilla | Tres Piedras | US 64 | Mike November | Travel 68 miles north of Santa Fe on US 84, to begin 48 miles of sweepers and switchbacks in a parkway setting over the San Juan mountains. Except for the occasional errant cow and a couple of tight turns, this is a cruiser. At the beginning, there was (as of 7/97) a sign posted, declaring that the road was closed from 6PM-6AM and there would have no snow removal or highway patrol between those hours. In the Summer, no worries about snow and it's light for 3 hours after the official closing hours. So we have nearly 50 miles of parkway sweeps, switchbacks and scenery with very little traffic and no speeding tickets. To a sportbiker the down-side would be...... |
