Concrete Omak WA 20 Cannon1
Arlington Sumas WA 9 Donna & Dave Hooker Lots of curves and nice scenery. Traffic is light during the week and not bad on weekends
Spanaway Morton WA 7 Tim Paul Approx. 40 miles of 2-lane mountain twisties. Caution: lots of motorhomes on weekends. Gendarmes only at the gas stations.
Sumas Mt. Baker WA 542 Firestorm45 Loop--return on WA 542. As you go through this small town take it easy & don't exceed the speed limit of 25mph. The police are sitting around looking for speeders. After that--no other cops. During the week there is no traffic. Pull over and take a dip in the Glacier river water, its refreshing on a hot summer day.
Enumclaw Naches WA 410 Mike November Starting 35 miles south of Seattle, this 93 mile stretch is both scenic (west side) and exhilarating (east side). Between Enumclaw and the Crystal Mt. road there are many sweepers and an equal number of state patrol. Great omelets at Buzzy's in Greenwater. Entering Mount Rainier National Park (no fee to transit through) you get a great view of the mountain as you ascend to the pass. At the 'Y' to Cayuse Pass, stay left for the final assault to Chinook Pass (5430 ft El.) Great viewing at the summit and several Kodak moments along the way. From there, it's a 51 mile descent to Naches with sweeps and turns on a top notch tarmac- a real ego booster. You'll want to open it up. Traffic is light if you avoid the weekend, especially on the east side. Early morning, watch for grazing elk on the road. Chinook Pass is open from Memorial Day weekend to mid-October depending on the snowfall.
Clarkston See Notes WA 129 Gary Ryder Start in Clarkston in the extreme south east corner of Washington State. WA 129 goes south from a junction with US 12. It runs along the Snake river for about 10 miles before climbing up onto a plateau in an exhilarating series of switchbacks. The next 20 miles are fairly straight with open views of the Wallowa mountains. WA 129 then descends into a canyon and to quote "Washington for the curious", "features more twists and turns than a runaway roller coaster". It crosses the Grande Ronde river and then climbs back up to the plateau. Part way through the ascent you cross into Oregon and the road becomes OR 3, but the twisties continue. This spectacular stretch of road probably lasts for about 13 miles. You can continue on OR 3 through Enterprise and Joseph to Forest road 39 which, to steal another quote, "offers a hair-raising, nerve jangling shortcut to Hwy-86.
Aberdeen Raymond WA 105 Jason Start in Aberdeen, WA. Head south on state Rt. 105. to Raymond. You are near the Pacific nearly the entire time...HUGE & FAST sweepers. You lean w-a-y over for what seems like days. I did it with 2 buddies on a Saturday in August and there was hardly a soul on the road. Best ride in WA so far.
I-5 at exit 250 at the south end of Bellingham I-5 at exit 231 on  at the north end of Burlington Chuckanut Drive (SR 11) Paul W This twisty route will take you along the coastal cliffs with several pullouts to enjoy scenic vistas of the San Juan Islands and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Not too many places to safely pass slow moving tourists on sunny summer days. The last few miles heading back towards the freeway are through flat farmlands. If run in this north to south direction, it can easily be connected to the lower half of the Sumas-Arlington run on SR9 by crossing over the freeway and taking the first easterly running road with a traffic light out to SR 9. Enjoy!
